Would people work in banking/finance industry more likely to success in their own investments than others? Because of their insight and knowledge of the business, investment options, and trends? Just curious. I would imagine ordinary folks may be able to be money savvy to a certain level over time but probably still no equal to the pros who breathe finance/accounting/banking work night and day. cybe's made a very interesting point. I guess "ignorant" could be a "blessing" in the investment world LOL? Perhaps the more one knows, the more confidence, the more risk one may take, and the more money one may make - or lose?
What is the difference between MSc Banking & Finance and MSc International Banking & Finance? I want to study MSc Finance & Banking, however, the University I intend to apply just has MSc International Banking & Finance (Salford University), can anyone let me know the differences between them. How to break into investment banking/finance? I have several years of work experience in market research and on the editorial/publishing side of a business think-tank. I've come to realize that I'm in a dead-end position and don't see myself spending further decades in market research or in a business publishing role. I'm able to network with many finance professionals among my acquaintances. I do have a business degree, but am not specialised in finance or accounting. Unfortunately, I'm probably too old to be considered for formal trainee programmes. Is 33 years old to old to start a career in investment banking, Finance or accounting? I'm going back to school in the spring of 2009 (I will be 26 by then). I calculated if I was to take 15 credits each semester summer, spring and fall and 2 years of business school, it would be around 5 years. I am looking for something fairly reputable like Wharton or NYU but also some second choices were i to not get into those. A question for any Australian banking finance experts out there!? My sister and brother-in-law have a relatively small amount owing on their long standing home loan account and are debating whether or not to pay the loan out. Specifically, they are thinking it may be better to keep the loan and related mortgage documents in place in case they wish to take out another loan in future. Does this make any sense?
